FIFA WC 2022: Argentina vs Mexico Preview & prediction |H2H Record | lineup
Argentina will have a tough task in their hand as they will enter the second Group c match of the FFIA World Cup 2022 on the back of a disappointing defeat against Saudi Arabia.
Lionel Messi and Co. will be aware of the fact that a defeat for them on Saturday (November 26) against Mexico will spell the end of their campaign. On the flip side, Mexico were held to a goalless draw by Poland at Stadium 974 in Doha on Matchday 1 as they too will look to register their first win of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
Argentina vs Mexico Head to Head
Overall this will be the 36th meeting between the sides at the international level with the South American side dominating the past affairs. In the 35 previous meetings between the sides, Argentina have won on 16 occasions while Mexico have won on just five occasions. Interestingly 14 matches have ended in a draw we could expect another one to be added to that column on Saturday as both teams try to avoid defeat.
In three World Cup meetings between the sides, Argentina have won the three including their last meeting in the 2010 World Cup. The first World Cup meeting between the sides came in the inaugural edition of 1930 while they also met in the 2006 World Cup in Germany. Not since July 2004 have Mexico defeated Argentina in a competitive match as they won the Copa America affair, while that also remains to be their only win since February 1990.
