FIFA WC 2022 | Brazil vs South Korea Preview & prediction | H2H Record | line-up
Five-time champions Brazil will take the center stage on Monday (December 5) as they lock horns with Asian giants South Korea at Stadium 974.
The record champions faced defeat in their last group match and will look to bounce back while they also await the return of Neymar, who was ruled out for the last two matches. South Korea on the flip side needed a last-minute winner against Portugal to punch their knockout ticket.
Brazil vs South Korea Head to Head
The two teams have met on the World Cup stage as they get ready for the big battle on Monday. Interestingly, in the seven friendly matches between the sides, they have never shared a draw, so we can’t expect a full-throttle battle in the last 16 contest. It was not long ago that these two teams met in a friendly where the Brazilians thumped South Korea by 5-1.
The day saw four different goal scorers in the form of Richarlison, Neymar, Philippe Coutinho, and Gabriel Jesus. Hwang Ui-Jo scored South Korea’s only goal that day as the 2002 semifinalists look to avoid six consecutive defeats against Brazil.

What happened in Group Stage?
Brazil started their World Cup campaign with a brace from Richarlison who also scored the goal of the tournament so far. The 2-0 win against Serbia set the tone for the Samba boys but had to face hard competition from Switzerland, who were narrowly beaten by 1-0 after Casemiro scored the only goal. With qualification secured, Tite opted to rest his first choice 11 and instead tested his bench against Cameroon where they lost 1-0.
South Korea were steering down the barrel of defeat until the 91st minute before Son Heung Min made a bursting run to set up Hwang Hee-chan to score the winner. The goal secured Korea’s only win of the group stage that propelled them to take the runners-up spot in Group H. Earlier they drew blank against Uruguay in their opening match while facing a 3-2 defeat against Ghana in the second group game.
