FIFA World Cup 2022 | Croatia vs Brazil Preview & prediction | H2H Record | line-up
With a place in the semifinal of the FIFA World Cup 2022 up for grabs 2018 runners-up Croatia take on five-time champions Brazil in a mouth-watering clash.
The European side is still fresh from their giant-killing act from 2018 where they fell short at the final hurdle. Brazil on the flip side are looking to end its 20-year drought for a world title having last tasted success at the 2002 World Cup, coincidently also hosted by Asia.
Croatia vs Brazil Head to Head
Friday’s meeting between the sides will be the third time they meet in a World Cup match with the South American side winning both encounters. Overall they have met in four matches with the first match in 2005 and their recent encounter being just days before the 2018 World Cup in Russia, which saw Croatia make the final.
The last World cup meeting between Brazil and Croatia was the opening match of the 2014 World Cup where Neymar scored a brace while Oscar scored the other goal in a 3-1 win. Croatia’s only goal that day was scored by Marcelo who is now in the twilight of his career. The 2006 meeting also came in the group stage where a Kaka goal settled the contest for Brazil as they came out victorious by a score of 1-0.

A final-day draw against Belgium saw them reach the knockouts while they also drew against Morocco and won 4-1 against Canada.

The win also saw the return of Neymar to the team who missed Brazil’s defeat against Cameroon and the 1-0 win against Switzerland. The Samba boys had earlier won their opening contest by 2-0 with Richarlison’s brace that also saw the best goal of the tournament.
