Erling Haaland responds to Premier League transfer talks
Borussia Dortmund's Norwegian wonderkid Erling Haaland admits "you never know" what will happen as he continues to be linked with a move to the Premier League.
The Norwegian was among football's hottest properties at the turn of the year when he sought his next move. His exploits for Austrian giants Red Bull Salzburg attracted the interest of the likes of Manchester United and Real Madrid.
In the end, though, he opted for a move to Borussia Dortmund, where he has hit the ground running. Haaland scored a hat-trick on his debut despite only coming on as a second-half substitute and went on to score 16 goals in 18 games.
The Red Devils are expected to return at some point in the future as they attempt to bring the striker to Old Trafford. And when asked on Sky Sports whether he saw himself in the Premier League he responded: "First of all I'm very happy in the Bundesliga but you never know what will happen in the future."
Haaland scored twice in Norway's 5-1 win over Northern Ireland on Monday night.
It came after his international boss, Lars Lagerbäck, claimed the 20-year-old could hit the heights achieved by Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo later in his career. The 20-year-old was flattered by the comparison, but is just concentrating on enjoying himself on and off the pitch.
He said: "They are some huge words and I appreciate that.
"First of all I want to try and be the best player I can, work hard everyday and to try and enjoy my life as much as possible. You saw the game tonight, that is why I play football."
The striker also revealed he will be watching the Premier League when it gets underway this weekend.
Leeds, the city of his birth, return to the top flight after a 16 year absence with a daunting trip to Anfield.
