Why Jamie Vardy is a must-have player in any FPL team

Leicester City had set the bar really high for themselves since that insane 9-0 victory over struggling Southampton. They have charted a winning streak since then, defeating teams like Arsenal and Everton in the process.

The Foxes are unstoppable at the moment and are right behind the table leaders, Liverpool with an eight points difference. Leicester are in front of defending champions, Manchester City with a three point difference. Leicester City has scored two goals each in their last five matches and their premium striker, Jamie Vardy is at the forefront by scoring goals regularly.

Vardy has now scored the most goals in this season of Premier League with 14. He has, till now, not missed a single week of Premier League 2019-20 action as he has started in all of the 15 games so far and has been on the field till the final whistle of the match. With nine key passes and 68% of his shots on target, the English striker is leading all the key individual stats this season.

As far as Fantasy Football League goes, he is a must-have player for all the FPL Managers. At £9.9m, Vardy is worth every penny that the managers spend on him. In the 2015-16' season, Vardy had scored in 11 consecutive games for the Foxes, breaking Ruud van Nistelrooy's record.

Now, he has scored in seven consecutive games and is looking to surpass his own record in this campaign. He, at the moment, is the most selected player in FPL with 48% and over two million managers chose to give him the captain's armband in game week 15 against the manager-less Watford.

The month of December is always difficult for FPL managers as teams might give rest to some of the key players to maintain the energy and intensity of the team. No player is immune to this rotation policy that many teams embrace.

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers had hinted at rotation at the pre-match conference before their match against Watford but the only change he made was replacing the injured Ben Chilwell with Christian Fuchs.

Vardy has not missed a single minute this season and the fact that he is Leicester City's premier striker might not have been rested for a single game week. With upcoming matches against Aston Villa and Norwich, Vardy is a must-have player for any FPL team.
