Kylian Mbappe few steps away from reaching the "GOAT" level
In today’s world of football, there are only a bunch of players who are too young but have already made their mark. Some are already expected to rule in the future while some have the potential but need grooming to reach their level best. Finally, there comes a group that has already started proving fans that they will replace the likes of all-time greats, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi and there’s barely any room for debate.
The last category includes players like Marcus Rashford and Erling Braut Haaland. But this is all about the achievements of another youngster, who already has a World Cup with him. Kylian Mbappe Lottin. Mbappe came into the limelight when he represented Monaco in Ligue 1, making his professional debut in 2015, aged 16.
With Monaco, he lifted the Ligue 1 title and also won the Ligue 1 Player of the Year award and the Golden Boy award. In this era of football, this is more than enough to earn a move to a big club with good fame and money. In the blink of an eye, Mbappe got through a move to the Ligue 1 giants, Paris Saint-Germain for a gigantic €180m. However, it started with moving on a loan in 2017, making the deal permanent in 2018.
Since then PSG has more or less been a lot around Mbappe and Neymar, of course. The transfer made him the second-most expensive player behind his team-mate and also the most expensive teenager in world football. However, unlike Neymar, Mbappe has proved himself at every stage of his career since his move.
Playing only three seasons with the club, Mbappe is already PSG’s seventh all-time goalscorer and there’s a lot more to come. However, failure in the UCL is something the player might want to change as he is linked with big clubs every now and then, Real Madrid being the biggest contender to sign the Frenchman.
Unai Emery also believes that Mbappe is capable of creating an era of success at Real Madrid. Being just 21 years of age, Mbappe has a lot of time to conquer Spain and get Madrid back to becoming the champions of Europe. Already a win-win situation for both but Mbappe still has a contract at PSG that expires in 2022.
Emery and Mbappe won the Ligue 1, the Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue together before the manager left for Arsenal. Talking about his current season, PSG were crowned Ligue 1 champions recently as the league was abandoned mid-way because of the coronavirus pandemic. The conclusion of the league made Kylian Mbappe as the Ligue 1 Golden Boot winner for this season with 18 goals.
Not to forget, Mbappe also won it last year, scoring 33 goals in 29 league games as PSG went on to win the title again. However, this year, Mbappe was actually the joint-leading goalscorer in the division with Monaco striker Wissam Ben Yedder with 18 goals. However, Mbappe was given the boot because his goals came from open play while three of Ben Yedder’s came from the spot.
Mbappe’s goals-per-game ratio was also superior when compared to Yedder, scoring 18 in 20 games while the Monaco star took 25 games. This also shows that being so young, the Frenchman is so clinical. But still, very recently, Mbappe took Twitter to show his urge for sharing the trophy with Ben Yedder and this act of humbleness for a 21-year-old shows that the future is very bright for the star man and he is definitely a prime contender to sit where Ronaldo and Messi are, currently.
