Senegal forward and Liverpool star Sadio Mane clueless about title medal

Liverpool are firmly on the course for the Premier League title and Sadio Mane has only just learned the achievement would land him a medal. 

Sadio Mane claims he “never knew” that Premier League winners were awarded medals, with one almost certainly heading his way as Liverpool’s march to the title continues.

The Senegal forward has been a very key and impactful player in the Reds’ fabulous campaign, scoring 13 goals and assisting six in 24 appearances. 

Jurgen Klopp’s side sit with a 22-point enormous lead with 11 games in hand, putting a first top-flight crown in 30 years firmly within their hold. But the medal which will come with it is of little interest to Mane.

Mane while talking to BBC World Service said, “I heard yesterday that if we win the league, we will have a medal. I never knew that happened, but I don’t care about medals." 

Liverpool missed out on the Citizens last season in a thrilling title race but this time, Liverpool have made things look way easier for them.

Mane continued and said, “We know Premier League is the best league in the world and every single game you have to give 100 percent if you want to win." 

"It’s what we always try and I think it’s working very well, but we have to keep working hard to get what we want. Our target from the beginning was to win the league, so if we win it, it will be great for the club and for the fans.”

There are reports that, with Klopp bringing the UCL to Anfield last season and the Premier League this season, there is a high chance that there will be a statue built for the German outside the club’s home ground. Mane also believes that it will be an honor his manager deserves. 

Mane also spoke about the perception Klopp has of doing things in his way and the fact that he gives responsibility to every player on the pitch which is really important. 

However, his personal relations with the club and the players have been one of the best things happening at the club for a long time.

Liverpool head to Watford on Saturday, with a chance to increase their gap to 25 points due to City facing Aston Villa in the EFL Cup final on Sunday.
