Mauro Icardi makes PSG move permanent until 2024

Paris Saint-Germain have exercised their right to buy Mauro Icardi from Inter, with a €57 million deal as per reports. PSG triggered the purchase option and that means Icardi’s permanent move to PSG from Inter is completed.

Icardi came to France on loan last year after his relationship with the Inter management deteriorated and a return to the San Siro looked very uncertain. 

The first half of the 2019-20 season proved that the striker could completely fit in Ligue 1, who very easily dislodged PSG’s all-time leading goal scorer Edinson Cavani out of the starting XI and built a strong and trustworthy attacking partnership with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe.

Icardi had a tough time and his form dipped as the new year began but he still managed to score 12 goals in 20 appearances when the season was concluded. 

Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio recently confirmed that Icardi’s contract was about to expire on May 31 and the French champions are willing to sign the striker on a permanent basis. 

The deal runs until 2024 and reports claimed that PSG will pay an initial €50 million but the deal could eventually reach €57million. 

The plan looks clear as it is almost confirmed that Neymar is staying with the club. PSG are willing to form a strong attacking partnership and are hoping to get success in UCL after years and years of disappointment in the competition.

PSG recently defeated Borussia Dortmund in the last 16 of the Champions League and Neymar’s celebrations and his dedication in the game was a hint that he’s willing to do everything for the club. 

With Icardi’s permanent move, PSG will be a very strong striking force in the European competitions as well.
