Real Madrid outclass rivals Barcelona in El Clasico

The Vikings beat their eternal rivals at the Santiago Bernabeu 2-0 last night. Despite having a torrid first-half, the Los Blancos stood back determined to win the game and took away the three points.

Barcelona looked a shadow of its former self and the Catalans found no way past Madrid. They looked confused throughout the game and failed to create potential chances. Even club captain Lionel Messi found it difficult to penetrate the opponents' defense and he was constantly marked down by a ruthless Casemiro. 

Teenage sensation Vinicius Junior produced one of the best performances of his career. He constantly sprinted through the left flank and regularly caused havoc for the Blaugrana defenders. 

The home side made their first breakthrough in the 71st minute after Toni Kroos slided in a crafted pass to the Brazilian prodigy by creating a clever distraction in the first place. Usually criticized for his poor finishing, Vinicius slotted the ball into the net after it deflected off the legs of Gerard Pique.

Former Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo was present in the stands to watch his old team playing and it seemingly impacted the performances of his companion Marcelo.

Marcelo was severely questioned for his performances in the recent matches. But, last night the left-back was simply phenomenal in his play. He exhibited his trademark attributes in the game and proved to be a significant presence in the starting lineup.

Outcast Mariano Diaz created an instant impact as he came in as a substitute for Karim Benzema. He sprinted through the right wing and scored a goal from a impossibly tight angle.

Thus the game was sealed 2-0 at the full-time and Real Madrid players felt a moment of relief and joy after an embarrassing home defeat to Manchester City last week.

The Los Blancos return back as table toppers with 56 points from 26 games and they linger above Barcelona with just a one point lead.
