The 34-year-old has been India's key batsman in this T20 World Cup, bailing India out of difficult situations and giving the Indian bowlers a reasonable target to defend. His knocks against Pakistan, Netherlands, and Bangladesh proved how important he is to the Indian team. 

He has played the role of the opener, sheet anchor, and finisher in this World Cup, making him a contender to win the player of the tournament award and be the first player to win the player of the tournament award thrice in the T20 World Cup.
