The future of cricket is in good hands due to the rise of associate nations. Fans are noticing that teams are leaving the ICC qualifiers and playing with the Test-playing nations. As cricket is becoming popular day by day, many associate nations are giving a tough time to the powerhouses of world cricket.
This was evident in the 2022 T20 World Cup as there were 6 major upsets, making it one of the most exciting T20 World Cups in recent times. With that being said, here are the

Players like Max'O Dowd, Bas De Leede, and Roef Mal der Merwe are a few of the players who have played big roles in the recent success of the Netherlands team.
Their victory over South Africa was an upset for the ages and they have earned direct qualification for the 2024 T20 World Cup.
2) Scotland
Along with the Netherlands, Scotland have been a dominant associate nation, either winning or being runners-up in the ICC regional qualifiers. In 2018, Scotland upset England as they beat the future ODI and T20 World champions by 27 runs. Another upset of recent memory was their victory over the West Indies in the group stage of the T20 World Cup, beating the 2-time T20 World Cup champions. As they continue their red-hot form, it is only a matter of time before they move away from the associate nations and receive their test status.
3) Namibia
After displaying a positive brand of cricket in the 2021 T20 World Cup, Namibia have amongst talks with fans. They gave a good fight to teams such as India, Pakistan, and New Zealand. With players like David Wiese, Gerhard Erasmus, JJ Smith, and Jan Frylinck, the future of Namibian cricket is in good hands.
Their highlight in recent memory was their victory over Sri Lanka in the group stage of the 2021 T20 World Cup. They were about to qualify for the super 12 stage but their hopes were crushed by the Netherlands.
4) United Arab Emirates
The strongest associate nation in Asia, the UAE has risen up the ranks in quick succession. A cricket-loving country, the United Arab Emirates have amazing facilities, stadiums, and funds supporting them. Although they are yet to make an impact or cause an upset to the Test-playing nations the UAE are a team of promise and will slowly make their way out of the ICC qualifiers.
