Harmony Tan in Numbers
While Serena needed no introduction on the center court on Tuesday evening, it was her opponent Harmony Tan who was not used to the crowd. At 24, it was her first-ever match at the Wimbledon, having previously played only in the qualifiers.
Ranked 90 in the singles department, not much was expected from Tan on Tuesday evening as she brought her ‘A-Game’ to the court.
Serena Williams was given a reality check in the first set of the match when she was outclassed 7-5. Although Serena did win the second set, it was the young French star that had other ideas.
Tan managed to hold her nerves in the end as she beat the seven-time Wimbledon champion.
