Atalanta youngster Andrea Rinaldi passes away at 19

Andrea Rinaldi, who was on loan at Legnano from Atalanta, has passed away three days after being taken to the hospital. The Serie A confirmed that the midfielder suffered a brain aneurysm last Friday and was taken to the hospital. Legnano, a club in Serie D where the player was on loan, described it as a “sudden shocking tragedy, impossible to even imagine.”

Club president Giovanni Munafo said, “Andrea came to training and first came to greet me. This is a memory I will carry in my heart. He was an extraordinary boy, an example for everyone. On behalf of the club, I express my deepest condolences to the family.”

Rinaldi became a part of Atalanta’s youth system when he was only 13 and won the Scudetto and Supercoppa with the Under-17 side in 2016. “That kind smile of yours will always stay alive in the hearts of those who had the good fortune to meet you,” Atalanta said in a statement.

Being only 19 years of age, people who knew him personally are already in shock as they’ve lost someone very dear. A player, who was bright and was probably on the way to return to Serie A considering the way Atalanta have been performing this season.

The team and the coach also wished for a better future, not only for the player who is no more but all the people related to him, some support and strength as they lost him when the player had just begun chasing his dream of becoming a successful footballer. 

With the coronavirus having reached its peak in Italy, life is getting slowly to where it was. However, everyone is still asked to take special care to keep them and their loved ones safe until a vaccine for the virus is developed.
