Atletico Madrid contact agent of Argentine superstar Mauro Icardi
Atletico Madrid manager boss Diego Simeone has contacted Mauro Icardi's wife cum agent Wanda Nara regarding a sensational move for the Argentine superstar.
Simeone has identified the Internazionale striker, on loan at Paris Saint-Germain, as an ideal replacement for veteran Diego Costa.
The 27-year-old has been in blistering form since moving to Paris Saint-Germain on loan last summer having scored 20 goals in 31 games. The Ligue 1 holders, however, have reportedly already terminated his deal after comments made by Nara which has put Atletico Madrid, along with a host of European giants, on red alert.
Nara's comments has also made the relationship between the star forward and his parent club Internazionale a lot worse than they previously were. Now it appears the Argentine striker is unwanted by both PSG as well as the Nerazzurri, whom he formerly captained.
Icardi could be handed a lifeline with Atletico Madrid looking for a long-term replacement for former Chelsea star Costa, according to reports in Italy.
The Spanish giants were keen on securing a deal for Icardi last summer after his fall out with Inter chiefs. They missed out on the lethal striker and instead turned their attentions to Portuguese wonderkid Joao Felix, who has failed to live up to the hype early in his career at the Wanda Metropolitano.
Now the Atletico bosses are hoping to pair him with Icardi up front, after Simeone reportedly contacted Nara over a summer deal.
Atletico Madrid were agonizingly close to singing Icardi's PSG team-mate Edinson Cavani on a free transfer after talks over the summer move began in January. However, it now appears that deal is off, with Icardi emerging as the primary target of his compatriot Simeone.
Los Rojiblancos are desperate to add some firepower to their squad after a disappointing 2019-20 season, where they currently sit outside of the Champions League spots. Simeone's men are languishing in sixth place, although they are just two points behind Sevilla are third in the table.
