Erling Haaland wants assurance over Ole’s future before signing United deal

Erling Haaland has asked the Manchester United hierarchy to assure him that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer would not be relieved of his duties in near future.

Haaland recently had a meeting with Ole and Manchester United Vice President Ed Woodward and he reportedly told them that he wouldn’t commit to the club unless he was given assurance over Ole’s future.

Ole has had a big influence on Haaland’s career as he was in charge at Molde when the teenager came through the ranks and started playing for the first team of the Norwegian club.

Haaland has caught everyone’s eyes with his performances in the Champions League this season. He found the back of the net seven times in the eight games he played at the group stage of the competition and some of the goals that he scored were simply stunning.

The United hierarchy has no doubts over the capability of the youngster and they are prepared to splash some serious cash to get him in this winter.

Borussia Dortmund is another club, which has Haaland on its radar, but, Haaland seems to be interested in the Manchester United offer because of Ole’s presence there. However, he is not sure how long Ole would be at Old Trafford.

Ole’s position as the manager of Manchester United has been under the scanner of late and their latest defeat at the hands of Watford has only increased the pressure. There is a possibility if Ole fails to propel United to top six at the end of the season, the board might start thinking of other managerial options.

United have played Marcus Rashford as the central striker in most of the games this season, but the pundits are of the view that he is more of a winger and not a proper number nine. 

The Red Devils need to find a proper number nine if they have to be stronger in offense and Ole has identified Haaland as the possible solution to the problem. 

It will be interesting to see if he is able to secure the services of his compatriot, while his own position is not secured at the club.
