Mauricio Pochettino hints that he might return to Tottenham
Mauricio Pochettino is in no rush to return to management, but he has insisted if there is a worthy offer on the table, he will take it.
Pochettino was relieved of his duties as the manager of Tottenham Hotspur with the team surprisingly playing poorly in the Premier League and sliding down the table despite having come into the season as one of the title contenders.
Some people thought it was really harsh on Pochettino to be sacked in that manner as he had played a massive role in building the Spurs’ squad and taking them to a level from where they could reach the final of the Champions League.
Pochettino didn’t have a huge budget to sign the biggest names in world football at Tottenham, but he handpicked players from smaller leagues and turned Tottenham into one of the most compact teams in England with plenty of quality upfront as well as in the backline.
For some reason, the team couldn’t execute his plans and tactics in this season of the Premier League and he was dismissed straightaway by the Tottenham hierarchy.
Pochettino, however, doesn’t have any bitter feelings about his sacking from Tottenham and he is open to the possibility of taking charge at the club again.
According to Pochettino, it’s not that the managers have left a club and have never gone back to that club again. They have. It happens in Football. However, it’s certainly not in his hands to go back to the London based club, it depends on the club.
“Managers leave a club and go back, but now it is not in my hands. I love Tottenham. I love the fans, I love the players, I love the club, the staff.” Pochettino was quoted saying by Bleacher Report.
The Spurs have shown improvement in results since the appointment of their new manager Jose Mourinho. However, they suffered a 0-2 loss against Chelsea last weekend.
